Botox® for the Prevention of Chronic Migraine

Botox® for the Prevention of Chronic Migraine

A series of injections of botulinum toxin into the head and neck following the FDA approved PREEMPT protocol for chronic migraine. This is done every 12 weeks on an ongoing basis for prevention of chronic migraine.

Occipital Nerve Blocks (ONB)

Occipital Nerve Blocks (ONB)

A superficial injection of an anesthetic (AKA “numbing agent”) in the back of the head over the skull base to “block” the occipital nerves. Both the “greater” and “lesser” occipital nerve can be blocked on either side depending on the specifics of the patient’s situation. The procedure takes 5-6 minutes and typically provides immediate (within minutes) pain relief.

Supratrochlear, Supraorbital & Preauricular Nerve Blocks

Supratrochlear, Supraorbital & Preauricular Nerve Blocks

A superficial injection of an anesthetic (AKA “numbing agent”) above your eyebrows and near your ears to “block” these nerves. The procedure takes 7-8 minutes and typically provides immediate (within minutes) pain relief.
Sphenopalatine Ganglion (SPG) Blocks

Sphenopalatine Ganglion (SPG) Blocks

A viscous lidocaine is “dripped” into the nose (with the patient lying on there back) to block the SPG and trigeminal nerve in the posterior nasopharynx (AKA back of the throat) to provide acute and preventative headache relief. This is an excellent option for patients who want to avoid needles/injections and is considered an exceedingly safe procedure with no downtime. This is typically done as a series (e.g., twice weekly for 3-6 weeks).
Trigger Point Injections

Trigger Point Injections

A series of injections (typically 3-5 sites on each side) of a small amount of lidocaine into the muscles of the cervical paraspinal and trapezius muscles. This can be an effective way to treat muscle tightness/spasm and can be a highly effective way to immediately alleviate pain in the neck and shoulder region.
IV Infusion Therapy (IVIT) for the Acute Treatment of Migraine

IV Infusion Therapy (IVIT) for the Acute Treatment of Migraine

An IV infusion using patient specific protocols developed by our experts in headache medicine. IVIT is typically very helpful in stopping an acute migraine attack and is an excellent alternative to the emergency department or urgent care. Some patients report ongoing improvement in their headaches for 3-4 weeks after IVIT as well.

IV Vyepti® Infusions for the Prevention of Migraine

IV Vyepti® Infusions for the Prevention of Migraine

An FDA approved IV infusion therapy done every 12 weeks on an ongoing basis to prevent episodic and chronic migraine.
