Trigeminal Neuralgia
Characterized by “shock” like pain along the distribution of the trigeminal nerve. These are usually short lived attacks but can be quite severe in intensity when they do occur and are often described as “jolts” of pain.
Common triggers for these jolts of pain include light touch or cold wind in those that struggle with trigeminal neuralgia. These headaches are very different from migraine headaches or cluster headaches and thus have very different treatment regimens. That is why making sure you have the right headache diagnosis is critical to getting the right treatment.
